Phones have exponentially evolved and improved over the last couple of years, making it easier than ever to become a photo pro. With so many apps its hard to filter through and find the diamonds in the rough. We’ve compiled a list of the top 5 editing apps that will take your photos from raw to remarkable. Now, all you have to do is nail the shot.

1) Lightroom Mobile

Lightroom places first for a variety of reasons. It is by far the most advanced program when it comes to mobile editing. You can develop your own presets (filters) which gives you the ultimate control over your look.

2) Tezza

If you’re on Instagram, you should be well acquainted with @tezza. She is the queen of stunning photography and content. She and her husband Cole developed their app a little over 2 years ago and it has grown exponentially in popularity since then (with good reason).

Not only are their filters top notch, you can also customize them, including the HSL / Color panel (so important when it comes to photo editing). They have also introduced video editing, stop-motion, subtitles, and more, which truly sets them apart from the rest.

3) ColorStory

ColorStory was started in 2016 by Elsie Larson and Emma Chapman, the creators of A Beautiful Mess. With over 500 filters and 120 effects, you will be able to find your aesthetic right from this little app. You can also preview your grid in the app to ensure your Instagram feed is just the way you like it.

They also partner with various other photographers and creators to provide filter packs made by them. You can have access to your favorite influencer’s presets with the touch of a finger.

4) VSCO

VSCO was one of the first popularized filter apps for Instagram. Their mission is to support creatives from start to finish and empower them to fall in love with their own creativity.

The app also has its own in-app photo feed where users can like and comment, but it is often used as an Instagram “drafts folder” as there is far less pressure to curate the perfect feed or photo.

5) Touch Retouch

Ever wish you could remove trash from your photo with the swipe of a finger? Well, now you can, with the Touch Retouch app. This is still a fairly new app, but is getting attention from influencers like Sivan Ayla. At only $1.99, this program will save you a lot of headache, especially if you aren’t nuanced in Photoshop cloning.
